The rings
Full helps. Empty weighs.
Each ring shows how much one factor helps at that hour. The emptiest one weighs most on the score. Tap the score of any beach to see its rings.
Beach
Four things make a beach day.
Wind
From the land, it smooths the water. From the sea, it brings chop. The lighter, the better.
Sea
Calm water at the shore lifts the score. Strong waves on the sand weigh it down.
Sun
A clear sky counts in your favor. Clouds take a little away.
Rain
The chance of rain weighs, even if it is just a shower.
The cold counts too. And bay beaches, with stiller water, are better for a stroll.
Surf
The right wave depends on you.
Waves
The right size for your level.
Period
More spaced-out sets bring waves with power and shape.
Wind
Offshore, it keeps the wave clean and standing. Onshore, it makes a mess.
Choose beginner, intermediate or advanced. The same wave can be perfect for one and too big for another.
Best time
The day's score is the day's best hour.
Calculated for every stretch of the beach, hour by hour, with a forecast updated every 30 minutes. Between sunrise and sunset, the highest-scoring hour becomes the day's score.
The scale
From 0 to 10.
The greener, the better the moment.

Frequently asked questions
How is the beach score calculated?
By the wind, the sea, the sky and the chance of rain, for every stretch of the beach and every hour. A light offshore wind, a calm sea and a clear sky lift the score.
What is the day's score?
It is the score of the day's best hour, between sunrise and sunset, on the best stretch of the beach.
How does the surf score work?
It looks at wave size, the time between waves and the wind, always for the level you choose.
Is the score an average of the factors?
No. The weakest factor weighs most. A sunny day with a strong onshore wind is not a good beach day.
How often does the forecast change?
The forecast is updated every 30 minutes.
Where does the data come from?
Weather and sea come from Open-Meteo. The maps, from OpenStreetMap and OpenFreeMap.
